Help renewing dessicant...

Can someone give me the temp/time specs for renewing dessicant cans & bags in the oven?
I have some that probably need renewing/dehydrating, but now I can't find the darn directions for doing it. Thanks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Bug.

Hi Bug. The directions on my cannister state 275° F for 3 hours.

I usually put some loose granules in with my bagged stuff. Bake on low heat (~200) until the loose granules turn back to blue color. Emery

Glad someone had the real instructions.

I was gonna suggest 300/2hrs.

OR toss it out and make a visit to your local big glass shop. They've got it by the drums full IF they make double paned windows. Most times they'll donate a quart of it for the asking.

Shades of fifty years ago! One of my jobs in the Navy was drying the silica gel from the optical sights of the 40 mm directors in the galley range. It made for a good excuse to lurk in the mess hall and drink coffee.

Old rancher I worked for as a kid had a 8" hunk of cream colored
very light weight lava he'd picked up off the mtn above the place.

Kept it in the propane fridge and once a yr or so would put it in the bread box of the wood stove for a couple days.

Claimed that kept the moisture and the smells out of there.
That was before I ever heard of desicants.

Mine say 240 degrees for three hours. Usually I flip the bags @ 1 1/2 hours. Works for me.

Try the food dehydrator for about 24 hours. This works very well for me, especially with the bags.
