    Casting Furnace

Would like to have some opinions on buying a new furnace.
Unfortunately my Lyman 61, that I had used for more than 40 years, was stolen Monday night.
What is the quality of the ones now available?
    Thanks for any input.

I have a Lee bottom pour and a RCBS bottom pour and while they both work, the RCBS is by far better. If you have 4 or 6 can moulds you will appreciate the bigger pot too.

For ladle casting its hard to beat a big dutch oven on an old grill. It's a little more involved regulating the temp of a gas melt, you need a temperature probe and a meter that will read temps through the mv setting or an adapter accessory that lets it convert it to temp.

It's very hard to ladle cast from an electric pot which are bottom pour.

How about the Lyman Mag 20 ? I got many years of use from the M61 I had.
I like the mould guide that Lyman uses.
I will be going to a gun show in a couple of weeks and hopefully will be able to see and compare some different models.

Concur and if you feel the need for a 40lb pot then there is the Magma.

I have two RCBS Promelts and find that they are very good for dipping out of as well, as the pouring mechanism is at the front of the crucible so there is plenty of space for a ladle. A good feature if you ladle and bottom pour.
