    Star sizer die question

I bought a used Star Sizer (press). Took it apart, bead blasted it, painted and blued. Thanks to byronbush with the clean up tips. Got all the old black lube out of it. Worked great.

It came with a die marked .358. It measured 0.371 at the top to 3/8" into the die and 0.358 at the bottom. Is there a standard tapper in sizing dies?

Yes, the bullet needs to compress from the top down. If I need to work the lube out of mine, I just put it in the oven with a pan underneath and foil over the top, setting the oven on warm to maybe 200 degrees, it doesn't take long to get it cleaned out.

Check out LatheSmith on this forum he makes excellent Star dies, almost all of mine are from him.
