    What mold for 450 Marlin?

I'm looking for suggestions. I'm planning on casting some lead bullets for my Browning BLR chambered in 450 Marlin.

I'm thinking it should be darn near the same as 45-70, so I don't want to reinvent the wheel if I don't have to. I'm hoping someone on this forum has some experience with this.

    Suggestions anyone?

    RCBS 405 and RD 420.

While I am sure the RD and the RCBS will do fine, my preferred boolit for hunting is the Lyamn 457122 Gould or GB of the same.

Listed as a 330 grain HP, it is a wonderful boolit over a case os blackpowder. You should be able to find a smokeless load to duplicate the old ballistics.

I have had excellent results with the Ballisticast 1453 375 Grain Gas Check Mold. So far I have whacked 2 deer with it.

Thanks guys. I'll look into all of the molds mentioned above. But first, I have to go empty some factory loads to get some good once-fired brass.

Heard there was a Ranch Dog fan club meeting over here, thought I'd drop by. I think if you want to push your 450 much over the BP velocities the RD boolits are worth a look. My 45-70 GG likes the 350 grainer and my 32 is really learning to like his boolits too. 35 Remmy is taking a bit of convincing but I think she'll come around.
I also like the Lyman 457122 and the 457193 but haven't quite figured out how to load or cast them to suit my GG.
