    .228

Has anyone sized down 228 pills to .224 for use in .223 rem?

I tried it and it did not work well enough to take past the sizer.

was a mold I bought off ebay that was misrepresented.
Sold it to an Australian here who had a 22 Savage.

My 225462 drops "as cast" at .227 so I just lube, seat GC and crimp it with a .228 sizer for best accuracy in my .223s and 1800 - 2400 fps.

    Good to hear.

I should have stated the mold I had was for a 22 Savage.
Which has .228" grove diameter and corresponding large bore. So the bore ride nose is larger diameter also. Sizing the nose woudl be getting into doing it the hard way.

What sort of mold do you have dropping .228"? Or are you looking for a heavy bullet for tight twist barrels?

    I use a .225” size die for my 223’s.

Come to think of it my older 225415 mould will drop a .228+ bullet when cast of linotype. Cast some up for a fellow many years a go for his Savage HP and they worked well. I just crimped the GC on enough to hole it and he pan lubed them. Sorry but I don't remember the load he used but he was pushing them at around 1800 fps if I recall correctly as we chrono'd them on my Oehler M11/61 back in the mid '70s.
