Might be getting one, anyone use cast in their FAL and what pet loads/molds? Just curious, thanks for any replies.

Interesting followup - think my existing 7.62x39mm molds would be a good start, the Lee 160 grainer and the NOE 129 grainers, perhaps sized down to .311 like mentioned in the sticky about cast in an M1A? The 160 might be a good choice for that...and I already have a .311 sizer.
tried using cast boolits in my CETME
was the 200 gr lee 308 and i believe IMR3031
could never get it to cycle
at the time i didn't have much money to play around with
ended up trading it in after i took it deer hunting and carried it for a mile
still have the 45 blackhawk i traded it in for though
my new years resolution is to have a more positve outlook but that doesn't mean i cann't expect the @%&#*%@ worst
Since the FAL is gas operated and has an adjustable gas port, I would think it should work fine with cast; at least as well as the Garand. I have not used cast in my FAL but have loaded some very light jacketed loads for it which worked flawlessly.
I've shot lots of cast 311299s over 4895 with a dacron filler with complete success in several FN/FALs. I cast them of WWs + 2% tin WQ'd, sized at .311, used GC's and Javelina lube. Start at 28 gr 4895 with a 1/2 - 3/4 gr dacron filler. Work up load to 1850 - 1950 fps. I found very good accuracy right at 1875 fps and 100% reliable functioning with the gas adjusted.

I have H4895 - that's what you mean? No idea where to find/how to use dacron filler.
H4895 will do very nicely. Check out this thread and my posts which answer your questions. Any more questions just ask.

Also check out BruceB's thread for data on loading for the M1A. Most good data for the7.62 NATO in the M1A will make for good loads in the FN/FAL also.

I think Bruce B has done a little work with his FAL as well.
I have a thread on what worked in my L1A1 Century FAL. Take a look here.

Hope this helps. Bruce B's work is awesome. Take the time to read his thread.

Have 2 FALīs and both get fed the RCBS 180 gr FNGC with enough 2230 to get it to 2100 fps on my Croni. Both rifles fire this load right at 1 3/8" at 100 yards. I happily pop bowling pins with it off cross sticks. An 8" gong at 200 meters is a boring afternoon. But it is reasurring to hear that thwap/clang sound come rolling back. With the adjustable gas port I get a 5 gallon bucket set in the middle of a small tarp and brass policing is very quick. I guess due to port wear one rifle requires one additional number setting than the other.
This bullet which casts at .310 with WW has proven to be accurate in all my caliber .30 rifles.
The FAL is still the Peruvian army MBR.
