    My new CB gun

Italian copy of the 1876 Winchester in 45/60. I have a Lee RNFP 340grn mold right now for it but I'm lookin for others to try once I can get it out for a test drive.
Also I'm using cut down 45/70 brass with the rim lathe turned from the front to make it about .059 thick. Since the picture I put a leather lever wrap on it with a 1873 buckhorn rear site just for now till I get a tang peep site. I think I will like this one.

I like it, hope it shoots as well as it looks. Looking forward to loading details and a range report.

Greetings Fine looking shooting tool. You will want to check the throat size before doing alot of shooting. You may discover the throat diameter to be a bit on the fat side. My Lee 340 mold drops WW at about .458 which was no help with my fat throated 45-60.

I will definately be back with a range report. Right now I'm looking into what the missionary5155 brought up. Can't measure what my 340's drop at (loaded all cast) but I run em thru a
    .460 die for lube.

.............If they're dropping at .457", that .460" die won't help Sorry, couldn't help myself! For me, and a considerable number of others I've heard of over the years, the Lee 340 and 405gr slugs are generally on the 'smallish' side. Another good slug would be the Lyman 292gr and their 330gr Gould. You sure wouldn't need the GC but my favorite 'light' 45 rifle slug (in spite of it's needing a GC) is the RCBS 45-300.

That sure is a FINE looking rifle ya have there. If it's a Uberti I sure hope it has a good barrel!

I had the afternnon so I cast about 50 or so up.
Buckshot got me thinkin I needed to check that so I used my method of finding OAL of a bullet. Heres a pic of it as it came out of the chamber.

Not bad only about .025 of boolit jump. Boolit drops at .4575 front band and .4595 on the back.
Range report this week I hope. Family health troubles

    Range Report

    Did four 2 shot groups 1", .75 ", 1.25" and a 1.5" plus it shoots a foot high
with the site on the barrel no wedge, groups done at 50yds.
Fine for stuff out further than 150yds.
If the tang site wont allow enuff adjustment I need a new front site anyways.
Pardon my not having any pic's I was too busy yackin with 2 gentlemen shootin
some older not so well known rifles..Whitney Henderson lever action? not sure what they were.
