He probably has a Radon system in his basement so he tapped into it for casting vapors from his lead pot. Good idea. Fan is located outside so less noise and conditioned air loss.

Nice setup. The drip catch can is a good idea. I need to remember to keep the can next time I have some tuna.

The "vacuum cleaner nozzle" is hooked up to my dust collection system. I have an industrial vacuum cleaner mounted outside in another shed that is hooked up to all that PVC pipe you see. Blast gates open and close to various machinery as needed. It also does a great job of removing welding fumes, smoke etc and the excess heat and fluxing smoke from my casting pot.

That PID is a good setup Roy. I want to set one up like that myself. How well does it regulate you Lee 20# pot? I have a Lee 20# bottom pour but it won't hold the temperature consistantly so I have been casting using a home made gas powered pot. It is OK for casting big boolits one at a time for 458win mag and 45/70, but I want to make up a heap of smaller boolits, and I thing that bottom pour will be teh way to go.

It holds the temperature within 5 degrees on both of my pots. It's quite amazing and makes VERY shinny boolits!

You set the parameter of how much you are willing to see the temp rise or fall on either side of the set temperature. Real easy to do.

    Roy,

Not only thanks for the video but thanks for the segment on your site about building the controller. Not only will it be great for my lead pot but it will work with my small furnace for heat treating.
