    marlin 60 help.

my marlin 60, .22lr, is not ejecting. i just replaced the extractor springs but it did not help.

ive got the ejector lifter spring, which "may" be the problem, but taking the trigger assembly is a bit complex.

anybody taken it apart and got tips? or seen any helpful videos/instructions?

local smiths charge $80/hr +/- so id really like to do it my self.

    Smile

I have the Glenfield mod. 60 when it does that sometimes I take a toothpick and clean the the notch where the extractor closes into the breech, it will close far enough to shoot but not far enough for th extractor to grab onto the rim, and it is pickey on brand of cartridge's some work better than others, remington will not cycle. What works the best in this mod 60 is the CCI mini mag.

the extractors are tight, they hold the case and the next round jams. the gun is spotless.

did you check for a burr on the chamber? I had one that was having issues and all seemed well but the extractor would slip off the case head. it had a really nasty burr from dry firing (used gun new to me) that seemed to hold the case tight. cleaned that up and it ran flawlessly. The new owner shoots it all the time.

Not sure if that will help, but worth a look.

the extractor pulls the case fine, it just wont eject from the bolt.

make sure the kicker on the back side is moving free. If its a little sticky it dont come out far enough to hit case . I bought one cheap and that was its problem. also a diamond file will help the extractor

i'd try some different ammo before anything. my dad give a marlin 60, and he said it was junk. i did'nt even clean it, and so far it's gone though 150rds. of mini mag's without a hiccup. so it's worth a try.

    got it!

i replaced every spring(except the back ordered recoil spring) in the gun while i was in there. it ejects now. it was a real pita to get the thing apart and together again.

i haven't actually fired it, but ive function checked it. it works smooth now, kicks out the cases fine.

    thanks for all the help.

btw, it will eat any ammo i feed it except rem thunder bolt/golden bullet.

There you go. I miss understood the ejection part, I thought you were having an extraction issue. You will like the little gun and now you will watch for those junk gun deals so the one you have has a little brother.

I bought a Glenfield model 60 at Kmart in 1974, ($39 with scope),shot many thousands of rounds thru it. I gave it to my younger bro for Christmas one year. The only problem ever was it would fire if chambered manually but the next round would not fire. I took it apart and the ears were worn/broken off the hammer. I ordered a new hammer and the gun is still running fine.
