    Lyman vs Javelina Alox

According to the tech specs for each at Midway USA, the Lyman melts at 130 deg, the Javelina at 190. What's the difference causing this - they are both 50% alox, 50% beeswax.

I suppose this could be a misprint in the tech specs.

Depends on the materials used, of course. Natural beeswax melts at around 160. Paraffins/olfins, of which there are many types, anywhere between 130 - 190, depending on grain size and formula. Yes, there are petro chemicals that can mimick beeswax and they might be called manufactured beeswax by some folks, especially if the chemistry is very close. ... felix

No misprint, I think. There is simply a difference in the type of Alox in their respective formulas. There are many types of Alox available and the old 2138F is no longer around. Javalina may still be shipping lube made with 2138F and the other manufacturer shipping with the replacement type.
