    ingot mold find

    Guys,
I was at BassPro today and found this cornbread mold for $12.99. It has a higher capacity than either the Lee or Lyman molds and is much cheaper. Plus the ingots come out looking like cornbread! I bought 2.

They are harder to stack but I just keep them in 5gal pails in the garage . The ingots from muffin tins don't fit into my lee pot.

Are you talking about the 12 hole muffin pans from Wally World? They fit in my Lee pot and they were $4 a piece.

Whatever the tin was that I stole from the old lady kicks out lead muffins that don't fit. The bottom pour spout rod is in the way.

Don't fill them all the way. I assume you have a 10# pot" They do like the smaller ingots, most normal size muffin tins filled about 1/3 of the way should fit. The Lyman, RCBS, Lee ingot molds are a better fit though in the smaller 10# pot.

Use a 1/4 cup SS measure, filled about 7/8 full, the ingots come out at about a pound.

You can also use the little SS condiment cups from Walmart (97 cents for 4) they drop WW and range lead a little over 1 lb filled to the top. They drop right in my Lee 20 #. They stack ok, about 5 high then they get tipsy.

Some of those old Griswold and Wagner corn stick molds bring $75-85.

I still use my grandmas for cornbread. Cornbread just tastes better out of cast iron.

I use the Lodge muffin pans. Picked up 5 of them on a sale table at a Cabela's when passing thru Nebraska several years ago. They fit fine in a Lee Pro 4-20 and a RCBS Pro-Melt. Mine are definitely not rustproof as mentioned in the link but they are non-stick(rust takes care of that).
