    brass bullet

Gentlemen. I put forth my idea of a Christmas gift to someone who might have done this before I would like to make my dad a thirty caliber brass bullet for his key chain. I have a thirty cal mold steel a small ladle and a farrier forge propane powered that will reach 2300 degrees. Will it be doable to melt some old odd brass and poor a brass bullet in a steel mold any release problems.

    brass bullets

if you had a lathe or a drill press you could make one on them easier than melting brass D Crockett

Melting brass can be hazardous to you health. The fumes are poisnous. The melting point of yellow brass is a little over 1700 degrees and a little over 1900 degrees for red brass. I would be concerned about it not releasing and damaging the mold.

    You need a lathe.

Many years back, Before Barnes Bullets came out with their solids, The only ones I saw were lathe turned. Barnes may do it this way as well.

Actually, it might be much simpler than you think. Why not just purchase a box of lead-free Barnes bullets, then drill a little hole in the base for the key-chain mounting screw. Way faster than re-inventing the wheel. You might look into trying a assortment of boat-tail, or ballistic tip bullets for variety.

Indeed, why not drill the hole in the pointy end? The pilot hole is already there, and I think it would look better.

    What about gold or silver?

I was thinking about the same thing, but with gold or silver. Of course, it would be a one-off cast, but maybe someday, what would it take to do this?

How about a Barnes solid copper and then gold or silver plate it? I've seen hobby style home plating set-ups that would work fairly cheap. Except for the gold/silver

The rights themselves are more important than the living people who borrow them, as they were paid for with the lives of others. Therefore, it is better for a few to die, than it would be for them to lose their rights.
