    Puma twist?

Offhand, does anyone know the twist rate of a Rossi Puma .44 Magnum? LSI import, purchased 10/2007. I read somewhere that it may not stabilize a 325 gr boolit. I know how to measure it, just lazy this morning...

I don't know but some scary fairy whispered in all gun maker's ears that 1 in 38" was the way to go.

Mine stabilizes the Lee310 just fine. It is an older Puma with the medallion on the side.

My Puma 454 Casull is 1:20 and I believe your 44 mag is too.

You can figure out the twist rate without too much trouble. Put a cleaning jag on the cleaning rod with a good tight patch. Mark the cleaning rod where it goes in and several places up the rod. Push it in until the lines meet up again from turning (if possible) or where it turns half way around and measure the distance it took.

Early Puma guns were 30 twist, independent of caliber. ... felix
