    .243 boolit

I read the good results conserning the NOE:s 7mm hunter..
Started to think about the same profile or something else that would be suitable for the .243 barrels..
I personally have 6mm PPC USA gun and some barrels and reamer for PPC.
I do also have some +300 cases for 6mm BR..
So.. Would there be any other guys and gals interested about boolit suitable for 6mm barrel?
And.. What would be the design that would suit the needs of people.

I'll stick in a maybe. I've got the Eagan MX2-243, which is an 80gr bullet. Few people have use for it, as the nose is only .235. Makes a good borerider in my Obermereyer barrel, but most barrels don't have a tight enough bore. Most molds that would be made as a borerider in more common .243s have a larger nose. I think I need a longer bullet, the Obermeyer has a fast twist. If I take the Eagan over 2200fps my groups quickly become patterns. On the other hand, since I'm using the 6x45 in an AR15, a longer bullet will just eat powder capacity. But I'll keep an eye on the thread. 45 1.2 just added a .243 bullet to BaBare's page not long ago.

I would be interested if NOE is making the mould and depending on the exact design.

I might be interested. My plan is to cast and reload for our son as well as ourselves, and he has a .243. Don't know anything about the gun, but I'll ask him. Seems like in jacketed he usually shoots a spire point boat tail, mainly for the ballistics. Don't know what that would equate to in cast, but I'll bet there are those here who do know!

I'll be adding another shortly... specifically for the 6x45 in the AR. Max boolit weight works out to about 80 gr. or so and the nose is 0.237".

I would be interested in an 80 gr for the 6X45 as the 100 gr boolit I have is too long and heavy to stableize in mine.

A group of us had barrels made up by Lothar Walther for it. We all have the same chamber and throats...exactly, as far as possible. Should be interesting when we get molds as the jacketed loads shoot under 0.25MOA in all of them. We intended to size to 0.245". The boolit has room to be seated out if the throats extend at some point also. A couple of other guys have sent me throat slugs of theirs... they fit but who ever chambered their rifles had longer rougher throats in them. They fit but may jump some to the rifling. This boolit is meant for the ARs, but it should work in all the normal tight throated 6mms.

My 6mm PPC USA gives 0.16 inch groups with 5 shots from 100m with basic 70 grain SMK so it will propably like that kind of boolit also..

I would also like to have one.. You see.. here is so much of those who has the idea, that the cast boolits never compete with the J-word ones in accuracy..
I am dying to slap that thought away from they minds..

If you need 10 people to do the cherry from BRP , I'd be in for one. Thanks, Billy

    Question

    Fine idea !
But how will this boolit perform in a bolt action .243 Rifle (let's say a SAVAGE or a REMINGTON) ?

i would love another option for my rem' 700 in 243 but my question is: would a 77 grain bullet preform ok in a 1:9 twist?

right now im using the RCBS mold and boolits are 98 grains.
when i was shooting J-word bullets out of it i know it didn't like anything lighter than 80 grains.
