Look what we made on Sunday!

Blackberrys were sorta easy to find this year but the huckleberries were a different story. They were scarce as hens teeth in the area this year. We probably averaged half a gallon per outing with a fuel cost of an average of $35 per trip. 8 gallons of berries total makes this probably some of the most expensive jam there is. I see why its so expensive in the shops around here. We got 9 pints per gallon of berries so these are loaded. Now for some toast and home made biscuits. It is totally worth it.

I made some a couple of weeks ago and it sure came out great. Thought I was making a small recipe but by the time I got them all canned I had 19 pints. Been giving them away to local family, now I have to make more....

    GOOD STUFF!

Did you have a lot of berries this year? They were scarce here. I never saw anyone selling them on the side of the road like they usually do.

No, not many this year, kinda a late year for everything. Bought some from a local that had more time to go pick than I did. They sure were nice, have to find her berry bushes...

That's great Ted! We didn't get any berries picked this year, like you said, darned scarce this year. Good thing we have some frozen left from last year.

Wish berries would do good here but to hot, dry and to many insects. Now pecans that is another story I have so many lying on the grass it is going to fill up a trash can and not even half are off the tree yet.

When I have time and they are in season, I pick elderberries for my mom to make jelly out of.
    I aim to misbehave.

    Also interested

My best friends birthday is coming up and he's a huge huckleberry fan, having grown up outside of seattle. I'm not a big fan of them myself, but I'm not the one I'm trying to do something nice for (fer a change!).

I hope you'll put up MORE THAN ONE jar for that auction...
