Kevin, you don't say what year your 94 and 99 are. There is a little difference between the older and newer models but generally instructions are similar. Sporting Rifle Take Down and Reassembly by J.B. Wood is excellent, however if you may not want to strip 'em too far down. The 94 particularly. It seems that if one part would do the job John Moses Browning would figure out how to do it with 3 parts, all intricately fitting together. If you cant find a copy, I can try to scan and send you the pages. Regards, Woody

With the 99, remove the buttstock and all the pertinent parts will be right out in the open. Probably don't need to dismantle it any further. A good thorough cleaning can be done right there. You can remove the bolt if you think you really need to (at that point it'll be self evident what you need to do. Start by unscrewing the hinge screw for the lever.) but I wouldn't remove the rotor. It can be cleaned sufficiently at this point, and is a real PIA to get back in correctly- adjusting it's spring tension can be trial and error if you never did it before.

Here are the disassembly instructions from American Rifleman in the 1950's for the Sav 99 and the Win 94.

I suggest you click on the below thumbnail and then do an additional step of opening in a new window, to get more resolution.
