I have an Ideal mould marked 429244, any idea how old it is, when did they quit marking them Ideal.

    Bush,

    Welcome to the forum.

If you go to the bottom of any page, click in the CASTPICS button. Dig around in there for awhile, you will see a button for the history of Lyman. Lots to learn there.

Bushrat, The Lyman Gunsight Company bought out Ideal in 1925, and they continued with the Ideal reloading tool lines. When Lyman actually starting putting their name on the old Ideal mold designs - don't know.

As for the Ideal 429244 you have, Lyman still produces it today ... 44 Special, 44 Remington Magnum (430 Diameter) 255 Grain Semi-Wadcutter Gas Check
