Seating a gas check with a lyman 45

Why is it not done ?

Last week I cast some 358 SWC 163 gr. with a gas check type base.
I have been experimenting with the 35 cal Checkmaker I bought from Pat.
I have been using pop can aluminum.
I put some checks on these boolits
then sized and lubed them with my Lyman 45,
the checks visually look like they were sized/crimped onto the base.
I loaded them into some 357 Mag cases with 11.0 gr. AA#7
no problems, the checks stayed in place throughout the whole process.
They shot fine, accuracy is what I'd expect with my ability.

I ask again, Why is it not done ?

ummm i do some on the 45 .... the gas check seater that lyman sells that fits the 450,the 4500 and the rcbs doesnt fit the 45 unless one lowers the adjusting screw all the way down , in part if one has a huge boolit of a hard alloy the 45 isnt as strong as the 45 etc ...

I didn't know it wasn't. I use my 45's all the time for sizing boolits and seating gas checks. No other attachments or gear required. Same with the LAM II.

I'll agree with Doug. I've always seated the checks by hand and run them into the sizer. I don't know why they felt the need for a separate gas check seater. If the checks fit correctly, it shouldn't be needed.
