    Shot some Fatter 30s

I had some precious range time saturday.
Maybe the pics tell more than thousand words.
It s a shame that we need 2000 Joules (~1500 ft.lbs) of energy at the muzzle to shoot a deer. That means about 2200fps.
But at least in these velocities they seem to work very well.
All the boolits were only visually selected.

There are actually 5 holes on that paper. Maybe itīs just a coinsident that they hit like that.

Holes at 10 o'clock are .243 zeroing shots...

First of these shots hit the 9 rings for some unknown reason. Maybe a gascheck got loose during the flight.
I shot the next 4 in a same way and they hit where they should have.

1500 ft. lbs. at muzzle seems like a bit much for deer. Nothing really wrong with those groups at that distance--I'd be pretty happy with that sort of work from a sporter or surplus military rifle.
I don't paint bullets. I like Black Rifle Coffee. Sacred cows are always fair game. California is to the United States what Syria is to Russia and North Korea is to China/South Korea/Japan--a Hermit Kingdom detached from the real world and led by delusional maniacs, an economic and social basket case sustained by "foreign" aid so as to not lose military bases.

Guninhand, rifle I used was a mosin-nagant action with 20" LMG spare barrel. Bore condition is excellent, maybe mint when I purchased the barreled action. It slugged about .313". I canīt remember exact diameter.
I have a cheapo 1.5-6x scope on top of it. There was little to no wind at the moment.

Deputy Al, law says that bullet has to have 1700Joules (~1300lbs.ft) energy at 100 meters (109 yd.) with at least 8 gram (123 gr) projectile or 2000Joules (1500lbs.ft) with at least 6 grams (92.6gr).
That means I need around 2000fps muzzle velocity to meet the requirements.

    Psytis,

That is a very respectable group. I hope to get my fatter30 bullet results in the next 2 weeks, just have to come up with 6 hours to devote to it.

Nothing wrong with those groups, just have to tap the sights over a bit. Pays to experiment.
