    50 cal LEE REAL Boolit

I've got a T/C New england rifle, 50 cal, with the 1:48 twist barrel. Was wondering if anybody had any experience with either the 250 gr or 320 gr REAL Boolit in a 1:48 twist barrel. What load did you use and what did you lube it with? I'd like to get a mould for this gun.

I have the combo mold, I believe it is the 320 gr. I shot it over 90 gr Pyrodec RS in the early 80's. It was OK but inferior to the TC Maxi. This was a TC Hawken w/1 in 48 twist.

I have shot the 320 gr in a couple of CVAs 1/48 using 50-80 gr of Pyrodex RS with very good results. The REAL with the smaller driving bands sometimes doesn't do as well as others under real heavy loads.

What is the diameter on the .50 cal. REAL boolits? They interest me. I 've thought about getting a mold.

They run big like camerl2009 stated. Bu the bnds are tapered for easier entry and they are small so they aren't too hard to load by hand. Rifle Engraved At Loading.

I’ve had good luck with the 250 gr REAL in a T/C 1:48. Unlubed with an oiled felt wad between the bullet and 80 gr Goex 3f. Very accurate, looking for a volunteer to test terminal ballistics as soon as deer season opens.

I am currently shooting the 250 Grainer .50's in my T/C Renegade with 1:48 twist (same barrel as you have in your New Englander) and I'm shooting 2" groups at 50 yards with the factory open sights, 80 grains Pyrodex RS, no wad, just some bore butter on the boolit. I like the 250 grain boolit because it's only slightly more lead than a round ball, low recoil and plenty of punch for deer.

I shoot the 320 grain in my Lyman Trade rifle using Pyrodex RS and Crisco for lube. They print nice tight groups at 50 yards (1:48 twist). Easy to load, no cleaning between shots with the Pyrodex.
    It's all good!
