    Brass?

I got a Parker Hale 1861 this week and need some advice on cleaning. I read that the 1861 was the first reproduction ML Parker Hale brought in the early 70s. This one looks like it has sat in the box without being wiped down since then. There is no rust on the steel but the brass has some of the green goo on it. Should I strip it down completely to clean the brass or is there something I can use on the brass that will not harm the wood so I do not have to remove the brass parts. I do not mind the look of old brass that has been used so would just like to stop this green stuff but will remove it all and re polish it if I need to. Thanks for any advice.

    Good morning
I would remove the brass. If there is green growth where you can see it then there is growth underneath also.
Lemon juice is what I use here. Well actually limes.

In other words, citric acid. See the sticky in the Kit Room.
