I'll keep you all posted. Should get necessary tool by this weekend then try it out in machine shop. All goes well I might be able to ship a couple following week.

Will the dies that you are upgrading now have this insert ?

The universial die comes with this insert. The standard Ch one and two die set does not. It could though and I have certainly made these parts fit the dies but I know everyone will be happier with the way the universial is set up vs. the caliber specific inserts for the CH core seat dies.

Great ! I was looking at Torkers 44 cal. boolits and they don't seem to have much ojive to them.

The ones I would like to make would have more ojive and a small hollowpoint opening, if that can be done. This will probably help in feeding into a 1911.

Great work on the 44 dies. Torker said that they worked PERFECT, right out of the box !

My S press was shipped today, so I am getting really excited to get started swaging !

Ya know...this bullet making thing is like crack, you start slow, with reloading, move up a little into casting, get strung out on swaging, and then......turn into a full blown addict.....like you !

My 45's feed just fine in my 1911.

You are right about the addiction. I've gone full addict on collecting and smelting lead to make boolits. I'm smelting some range scrap as we speak.

I sent PMs to those intrested intially in case I felt any adjustment in price either up or down would be needed. I am happy with this initial cost and will continue to offer the die at this intro price.

Here is a copy of PM I sent breaking down cost.

Thanks again for your support guys. I hope to finance a large tooling purchase in future to further advance my product offerings in this hobby of ours.

    Swage On!

"I have set an intro price for the universial notching die. I compare mine every bit as good as Corbins, which is exactly the same tooth pattern that I have come up with but his is caliber specific and of course only works in his dies. I set my price for the notch punch at half of what he charges then added the cost of the die and the additional RN punch that will also come with the die.

His cost was $230 for the caliber specific notch punch

See my BTSniper Tool and die sticky for current prices and offers.

I do feel this is a great bargin on a high quality tool that will last a very long time. I doubt you would ever need another one and should anything ever go wrong I will make it right.

Thanks again for you support and should you have any questions please feel free to ask."

Spent a couple hours in the machine shop today. I must say it is amazing what can be done with the right tools. The actual notch die is turning out perfect. The teeth of the cutter are perfectly formed with the correct cutter and a mill. Easier then by hand and file that's for sure. Problem is the special cutter is pretty expensive. Also found out HSS does not like grade 8 bolts.

Defentaly have achived the perfection I was looking for in this notch punch. Took me a little while and now it is just a matter of making the necessary parts. Time line looks good for Christams maybe sooner. I'll keep you all posted.

Yep it will notch any size big or small!

Universial notch die and final design is perfect. The right tools and machines sure do make a difference. Only had enough time to finish the two prototype dies yesterday but had a chance to play with teh results a little this evening.

I must say the results are better then I have made before and it is very easy. Made these all with the same universial notch die without any changes made. Of course it was just by feel then for the different length jackets but when set it will produce the exact same results with your specific jacket till you change it. Used a cheap alunimum lee press for the operation so it doesn't require much force at all.

Just to see how small I could go, on the left is a 22lr case. No problem! Biggest I had was a 45 ACP case, again no problem. This should eaisly notch any cal bullet you can make.

These are just the unfished jackets ofcourse. Had there been a core inside a quick push in the swage die will finish it up making a perfect XTP look a like bullet.

    left to right

    22lr, fn5.7x28, 9mm, 40 S&W, and 45 ACP

Universial dies are all most ready

Good shooting guys and Swage On!

Sorry to post this on two different threads but I wanted to make sure these latest pics made it on to this one.

While finalizing the universial die I experimented a bit this evening.

A side note for those of you soon to be expecting the universial die always make sure you check final bullet diameter if you do not reswage after using the die. Just trying to think ahead.

I was looking for a 357 case but did not find one so what you see is a cut 30-30 case and a 9mm. Just another possibility with this universial die.

Just a bit of eye candy with this one. Really got it figured out. So much so you would think they used this die to make their XTP with.

Looks like it might work as a shotshell or for blanks too.

That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the pics of the empty cases,
they look like little shotshells. Maybe some wads made of plastic tubing?
I'm still evaluating finances (credit limits!), you might have me hooked.

Just a card wad like the black powder sooters use would probably work good to keep the powder and shot separte.

For a good wadding material, go to the Hobby store and get some foam-core board. It's two pieces of poster-board with foam-rubber sandwiched in-between. Here is some shown next to some 10mm shotshells I loaded up made from 10mm Magnum cases:

Have you actually shot the shotshells from your 10mm? I would love to hear about the results.

Remington made commercial shotshells in 45ACP with a star crimp just like that. I believe they stopped sometime in the 1980's.

This pic is a remington factory load on the left, and the WWII vintage load on the right:

I have a couple of rounds around here someplace, pic is from the internet.

The 1980's load was 650 pieces of #12 shot, and they would cycle a 1911 sprung for wadcutters.
