i was givin a phone # of a man that had a big jar of primers to give away.yesterday afternoon i called for directions and went to see him. it's about 30 miles one way.when i got there i saw that most of the primers were spent. i could see a few good ones in the jar.the guy felt bad and said,hey do you need any lead?he was going to throw the lead in the dump.most of the ingots are marked range,a few pure.the boolits are 158g sized .358"

Funny how the little windfalls in life come around.
The part about the primers reminds me of a story of mine. When primers were really scarce, the guys at the gunshop were teasing me that they told a man, that I dislike, that I had a bunch of primers I would give him. I responded to them, Sure I've got a whole coffee can full that I would give him and they have only been used one time. jmsj

nice score but primers in a jar? I just dont get that are they pistol rifle mags or standard, Iam sure I do some things others think are strange but thats counter productive or I should say it seems strange to me. But you never know the reasons for some things.
Reloading to save money I am sure the saving is going to start soon
A jar full of live primers is just flat out dangerous. Can you say sympathetic detonation? There's a reason for that factory packaging.
On the other hand great score on the lead! The broken off loops on those big ingots screams lino!

I once traded 2 1/2 gal of used primers for lead (early 80s) at the scrap yard. I understand they don't want them now.
I still trade used primers and damaged shells to the scrap dealer for Pb. It's all brass to them.

old timer told me that back when things were realy tite they reused primers he said they took a punch and pushed the primer back out and used a strike any were match head to set it off. never tried it but think i will
It works, but it's very, very corrosive. Use just the tip of the strike anywhere match. Clean immediately as you would for black powder.
They must be worse than black powder 'cause I can shoot a cowboy match, put the guns away, shoot another match 2 weeks later and have no rust problems at all. It's not as corrosive as all the old stories would have you believe.
It's way worse than black powder. I only mentioned black for the cleaning methods. You have to use something that will neutralize the salts.
Theres a yootoob vid about refilling primers, seems to work.
Lotta work involved but might be good to learn just in case.

OK, more than one.
For the work and the requirement to stock up on matches, you might as well just stock up on primers.
I was kiddin', seems like more work than it's worth.
Besides, a stack of primers doesn't sound as dangerous as having cases of matches in the house!
