I only shoot air now and a lot of big bore . I know that crosman pellets are normally around 9-10 bhn . I have a cabine tree tester and hope to some day test what some of the commercial pellet makers are using . What brand of pellets were you using ? I have tested different bhn bullets through some of my rifles and some like hard and some like soft lead . I was lead to believe air rifle should have soft lead . But I have found out different . But the high number you stated sounds a bit to high to me . Marvin

Some pellets are certainly hard lead. Brand makes a difference. No reason to expect pure lead.

Crosman says their pellets are hardened with tin and antimony, but doesn't say what percentage they use.

Yes you can cast your own bullets for air rifles . And you have several big bore options . You might talk to Randy at http://www.adventuresinairguns.com/ . He makes , sells , and hunts with them . There are several smiths makeing them as well .

And there are the Korean rifles that Randy sells as well as others . I have two Korean rifles a J.H . and a Gorgoyle . They all have their own strong points . And I cast for all of them. Marvin
