    .416 Rem. Mag. brass source

I read people are crying and wailing for .416 Rem. Mag. brass now that Remington has gone to seasonal deliveries of it. HuntingtonDieSpecialties.Com has in now in their inventories to calm you frayed nerves and reloading needs.Robert

I always thought you just ran .458 WM brass into the .416 RM die and viola.
    Is this correct?

Not correct. The 458 Win Mag case is about 2.5" long. The 416 Rem Mag case is about 2.85" long. The close cousin, ancestor to the 416 Rem Mag is the 375 HH.

Running a 458 Win case into a 416 Taylor die yields a 416 (Hardcast) Taylor.

You can also form this brass from either .375 H&H or 8mm Rem Mag - or I suppose, anything that's the same length, like 7mm STW, .300 Wby, etc. You don't want to know how much the form & trim dies cost, though!

skip the form dies, put 10 to 15 grains of unique in the case, fill it to the top with COW, go outside and with the muzzle elevated, put the trigger. I use the same method, 5 gr of AA-5 and COW to form my .17 Ackley Hornets.

WE use the same targets in VA. A solid from a .375 H&H will ream a Chevy end-to-end if you don't hit the block.

Yea.. You really do not need that much fire power for old Toyotos and Dat- soons. I find a 12 bore round ball plenty enough.

This being mostly Chevy and GMC country with a mix of (SHUDDER) Ford`s and a dusting of "Goat Headed" Dodges, we tend to pick on the rice eaters mostly. A Barnes 400 gr. bronze solid will go end to end - grill to tailgate on about all models out of my taylor, with an ample supply of powder. A month ago I used the taylor with swaged 300 gr. soft points on a raccoon at about 20 ft. It was a rear end running shot - I think I killed the animal. At the shot it threw him a full 6 ft. and literally turned him inside - out (I kept hearing the Toyota commercial jingle in my mind - Oh what a feeling, Toyota)!Robert
