I cast some .313" round balls with W-W alloy to try a fun adventure in 32 S&W and also 32 S&W Long. After that I cast a good handful of .447" boolits for a friend's 11x59mmR French Gras rifle. The mold was an antique single cavity I found on ebay that drew little interest. The final price was attractive, considering the prices on brand name molds for that same diameter. The boolits weigh just over 300 grains each, round nose with 3 lube grooves. The bases are slightly rounded going toward the sprue. I could correct this by milling down the top of the block but have elected to leave it original as the mold was very well crafted. No maker's name on the mold, only the rollmark "11" is present, as in 11 mm. The handles are straight and narrow. I added a pair of Lee wood handles to escape heat transfer. They work nicely.

Hot out today. Mixed up some ingots of range lead I'd purchased with some Linotype and melted my unused Rimrock and laser cast bullets into a 100 lbs of new ingots to run through my pot. Going to try and cast some 45-70 this afternoon. Hoping I made me some heavier better filling lead.

I sure like the 25 pound capacity of the new RCBS pot. I can get 420 250g boolits per pot without throwing sprues back in. That's without filling to the top or running it lower than an inch. I cast and sized 1,000 BC 1103s. It's an iron mold, one of the last of the "official" Keith's. LOL I think there was some drift from the H&G 503 design that Balisti Cast took over but it shoots very well and casts great.

I had a fun day. I hauled all my casting gear up to the folks place and set up next to Dad out on the back porch. An afternoon of dueling Pro Melts. He cast up about 40 lbs of RCBS 38 150 SWCs and 9 124 CNs. I split up about the same amount between Lee 356 120 TCs 452 200 SWCs and 357 125 FRNs. A good day talking, arguing and casting.

Ballisticast 1103. My favorite light load .44 bullet. Supposed to be the same as the H&G variant but I have never cast with my H&G 503s. I believe mine are GC molds- 2 and 4 cavity.

The Ballisti-Cast #1103 is sold as being identical at the H&G #503 or it least it was when Dennis owned the company.

My 1103 was made in the last days after Bill Sand took over. I paid in advance and waited for months beyond the delivery date. It was one of 3 I saved from the fire. The base band is shorter than my 503 clones. I think it was trimmed to keep it at 250 grains. I would have liked more base band but I was lucky to get what I did. Iron molds are still hard to come by.

I know but Tom can't cut close to 90 degrees except at the nose. LOL

What do your 1103s cast weight wise?

I am mistaken that my H&G molds are number 45 and 45GC instead of 503's. These two are definitely not the same bullet. I am pretty sure I had a 2 cavity 503 that I must have given to a friend of mine. In these pictures you can see the ballisticast 1103 and H&G 45 are obviously different bullets.

I don't remember what my 1103s cast at as all of mine are loaded.

Thanks Guys! My #1103 is a few grains lighter but it doesn't hurt the performance that I can see. I am down to one load, 20g of 2400, 1300+ fps. I'd go to the range tomorrow and shoot a few but it's car week and will be closed. Oh well.

    Good night last night!!

I cast about 20# mostly in two molds. A LEE 145g 10mm (This is one I always cast some with. Cause I shoot so many of them.) second is a 165g spitzer GC lyman mold. I size them to .310 for the blk out.

    Here is the Lyman.

    And there is the Lee

The last was just a few 255g Lyman swc 454’s.
