Now that .45 MiHec is a really, really tough mold to use. I think it may need better venting. The other molds I have from him are fine. I have already scraped the vent lines and that helped quite a bit but you have to hold your mouth just right when casting. In order to get the 154 bullets I probably cast 500. The mold also likes to be run hot which the waage pot doesnt like. Since these are for my 70 year old buddy I ordered some pink to powder coat them in.

Today I was fighting the rain. It was supposed to start raining around 11 (which it did). After debating whether to fire up the Hensley and Gibbs 8 cavity number 68 or the 4 cavity brass NOE .380 mold. The NOE mold won out because I didn't think I had enough lead to justify a run with the H&G mold. I want to be able to cast for several hours with it and I didn't have that much time. I set under the back porch and had this little run completed in just a short while before stopping to cut the grass. I got the bullets coated after they cooled from casting.

2,124 Lee 124 Gr. SWC 9mm, tumble lube, using 2 Lee six cavity molds in series.
Started at 06:00 (It is hot in Texas) finished at 13:30.
Use Lee 4/20 pot, with a PID I built/wired. Works great.
If I had a larger pot, could finish sooner, but Lee works great and is very much cheaper to buy.
Note: I ONLY use range scrap lead, have never used/purchased any other form of lead. Range scrap is FREE! Load: .380--9mm--45 ACP--.38/357.

cwlongshot, good looking boolits. That is a lot to pour with a two hole mold at one time.
    Thanks OBH!!

Saturday early AM, I cast the rest of the 20# pot of my 25/20 bullets. Worked out to be about twice what I had cast earlier in the week. Plus a couple hundred more 401's

When PC'd, That's what I USUALLY do. Yes works well.

ESP this color. I remove it with 99% of bullets stuck, but ever so lightly stuck as a bag or three and all are rolling around loose then I dump on the towel in the sun to dry...

I've got two old molds I like very much, one is a Lyman 225 RN in 45 cal., and the other is a Lee 148 gr wadcutter. I get excellent bullets every time with soft or hard alloy. The only problem is they are single cavity molds. Yesterday I cast for what seemed like hours, but in fact was just under an hour, and there was just a small pile of bullets in my pan. I like casting and don't mind casting often, but with these molds I gotta cast a lot to build up my stash enough to put all the casting stuff away...

I still had one 5 gallon of a bucket full of old school lead Wheel Weights just taking up space. Probably the last lead WW's I'll ever deal with.

I'd already skimmed about 1/4 of the weights off the top of the bucket, and made them into some mini muffin ingots, because they fit so nicely in my hand pot.

Figured it would be easier to deal with the rest as ingots, rather than as clip on lead tire weights.

I melted em all down into ingots today, using a stainless large muffin pan, since I've always used muffin ingots for WW. I stamped WW onto the ingots for future easy ID with a 5/8 Tekton number and letter stamp set.
    (after the pic)

Ended up with 51 large muffin ingots and a sore back when all done, along with two metal coffee cans full of clips.

30 cal and 44 cal. About 20 # of metal.
I cast the 30 cal with a good amount of linotype in my alloy to see if I could get some nice hard boolits.

    I liked these little blocks:
    Attachment 224651

And now I have a bunch of 30 cal from a NOE 311-174-FN mould (my 4th of July special) and a bunch of 44 cal from an Accurate mould that does 240 grain that drop around .431 or so and have both GC and PB bases.
    Attachment 224652

I was thinking today about how different the cadence of casting 30 cal vs 44 cal was. I was cranking out the little 30 cal boolits but then I had to slow wayyyy down for the 44 cal boolits.

Yesterday morning I fired up the pot and warmed up the 8 cavity H&G 68. 2 hrs, 40 minutes later I had 75 lbs of bullets. My original plan was to do 100 lbs but even though i had the Magma turned all the way up I was going thru lead so fast i couldn't keep a good temp. I got tired of fighting it and shut it down.

I cast up a bunch of Lee TL356-95-RF and Lee TL356-124-TC boolits earlier.
I really need to get a 6 cavity TL356-124-TC mold. My six cavity 95 grainer is a sweet mold and is much faster at casting boolits.

Who the heck can cast in 90+degrees heat on a painfully sun bright day.
I have a mold just returned from ACCURATE, that I screwed up, and I Can't cast a bullet because of the blasted heat.
    I HATE auto-correct
