Oh wow.
My .512 gun has a bit more barrel. As in 38" worth.
Bet that one will slow down a piney rooter.
youse guys with your tiny .510" bullets. this heres a MAN gun!!!
.950 JDJ - Largest Centerfire Rifle Ever Made - YouTube
I'm working on paperwork to get my barrel from JD. It's a 13", 2" break, .620 JDJ for my Encore.
not a revolver, but a big .512 nonetheless.
510 wells express, 460 Bee blown open to 50 cal.
I shoot the 850 grain NOE bullet. 1500 fps feels like a shotgun, 1900 fps gives me a sinus headache at round 7 and leaves me a little punch drunk, and I'm not in any hurry to try anything full power.
I never fell to the odd .512" and prefer the .501" The BFR .500 JRH might be the best ever. Everything is easier from brass to boolits. More power then needed. and easier to work then a .500 S&W. The .475 Linebaugh is an exception and is love.
I have shot most of Whitworth's guns except the 50 Alaskan. Shiny, smooth grips of Micarta. Even he had trouble with gloves. My friends head with the gun. We have lost touch. Now Whit's BFR in .500 JRH. Yes, 50 yards from a mold I made. I bought my own BFR.
You can keep a revolver or any rifle in a 50 Alaskan.
i'm going to try to get mine next month. it will be a 23" MGM heavy factory barrel in 500L. a skinner back and front sights will be put on it. a 450gr+/- cast boolit which goes 1100-1300fps will be my deer/black bear gun out to 100 yards. 525gr+/- which goes 900-1200fps will be a rocks and soda/beer can type of thing.
MGM sure does!!! i own a 20 vartarg, 6.5 creedmoor and a 444 marlin, all of them go sub accuracy at 100 yards. the 20vt is .2" at 100 yards(5 shots), it can do a .1" at 100 yards if the sun's out, moon is right, stars line up.....
Ugh, I really need a 50 caliber handgun.
I think I would have liked the 50 JRH alot better with a 7.5 inch barrel, maybe even 10. 5.5 was not fun to shoot, which I say as a guy who likes to shoot high recoil guns (stupid youth, all that...)
I much prefer my 460 S&W BFR.
The only problem with it is it is not a 50 cal!

Maybe one day a 454 or 44 mag BFR will fall into my lap for cheap and I can buy some pacnor barrels and have the cylinder punched out.
Some like the 0.501 and others go for the 0.512 - both can pound the snot out of you but the 0.512 really gets the snot flowing. The Linebaugh calibers in light weight handguns can almost make a grown man whimper in pain. The 50 Alaskan single-action revolver, loaded stout is something I thought about for a New York second, haven't thought about it since.
510 Wells Express - I can only imagine what that feels like, as I had both the 378 and 460 Weatherby's, both without a brake and that 378 loaded full-on was an attention getter compared to the 460. Took the 378 into Canada for moose and got a whole lot of ribbing over that cartridge.
