I would presoak your patches, one less step when loading. Plus it will make sure pleanty of lube is on the patch.

I only wet swab and dry swab when the previous load is very difficult to load.

If you ever get a ball and patch stuck half way down the barrel, squirt some soapy water down in on it then finish ramming home and shoot. If no soapy water gather up a good gob of spit and spit in the barrel, the moisture will help to get the RB seated.

I've "fixed" untold number of rookies 'stuck' RB's that way.

Thank you for the tips, I will try to presoak my patches before going to the range with the said dry lube and play with some grease too.

The spitting trick is good! Hopefully I will never need it

Hopefully you won't...but you will. If you shoot enough BP, all the calamities will happen eventually. Its the law of averages.

I'm still waiting for me to double load a projectile. It hasn't happen yet... but it will.

That's why I have my ram rod marked. If I doubled up it would be very noticable.

It is also very noticeable if you DO double charge, and fire it!
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

If you haven't dry balled, double loaded, shot the ram rod, stuck the ram rod or gone hunting with a flinter and caps or percussion and priming powder, sooner or later Murphy wins
