    Speed gun/ plinker/hunter

I finally finished putting together a steel plate, plinker, hunter 10/22 from parts that I had. Here's what I did.

Radiused the bolt, polished, and pinned the firing pin
Pinned the reciever, trigger group and stock together
    Extended magazine release
    Hogue Overmolded stock
MarineTex'd in a piece of all thread in the forend to stiffen for bi-pod use
    Cheekpiece from AR
    Shilen barrel
Trigger group from a Clark gun
    Volquartsen barrel scope mount
    Powers extended bolt handle
    UltraDot Pan AV sight

Should be a pretty fun gun. I wanted a different gun than my McMillian Stocked Team Challenge gun in my avatar.

pinning the reciever does make a difference. I also head spaced the bolt as well as radiusing it. I set my head space at .042. It was .060 from the factory. Now it fires everything, I also went a little large to prevent any bolt fires.

What is pinning the receiver? Is it what look like cross bolt heads in the pic? Could you discuss the benefits and how to do this project?

Limping, Check out rimfire central docone31 told me about it. They have detailed instructions and photos on all subjects above. I did all the work on my 10/22 from there. FB

I am not a 10/22 guru, I don't even own one, but I am going to assume pinning the receiver gives 2 more secure points of contact for mounting the receiver into the stock?? Instead of one action screw from the bottom, you have 2 more through the sides? I may be totally off base here, just going by what I see in the pics.

Pinning the reciever ties the trigger group, the reciever and the stock all together. I got to play with this gun a little bit today. It is really fun. I brought some steel targets and will get to wring them out in a couple of days.

I found out the UltraDot Pan AV poi moves when you lock it down. Takes a little longer to sight in, but the different reticles are fun to play with.

The gun is doing it's job. I shot a bunch of steel targets with it today, and we went on the great maurading rabbit hunt and took out four of the garden munching varmits.

I'm still playing with the UltraDot Pan AV sight. I need to shoot it a bunch more to come to a conclusion about it.
