"I don't want men who miss." -Capt. Leander H. McNelly
At one time or another, my gun racks have been populated with rifles from Marlin, Rossi, Browning, and Winchester. Today, however, I only have three lever actions - a Winchester Model 1873 .38 W.C.F. that letters to 1893, a Winchester Model 1895 .30 Gov't 1903 that letters to 1913, and a Winchester (Miroku) Model 1895 .30-06 I purchased new in 1999. So, my vote goes to Winchester.
I wonder if there is anyone at Remington interested in the poll results.

Wouldn't matter it they did. In this day and age of cost cutting, Remington will never achieve the quality of the old school Marlins.
I have eight Marlins, all but one is pre 1960, Ballard barreled. Most are 30-30, a 35 Remington has just been added to the fold, and a 45 Colt. I've never been a big fan of micro groove barrels. Don't get me wrong, the micro groove barrels work great. I personally think there was more craftsmanship involved with the Marlins from the 50's.
I vote Winchester but I think the Marlin is a better rifle. My boys each have 30/30's both set up as scout rifles, one a Marlin 336 and the other a Winchester 94. The Winchester just feels better to carry around in the woods for me at least.
i like the looks of that Marlin 45/70 someone posted with the laminated stock and hoop lever!
Hands-down, Marlin. Got a deal on a Winchester 94AE big-loop .44 Mag a year and a half ago and resold it without ever firing a shell. Dad bought a 94 30-30 several years ago because "they fit his hands" better than a Marlin's forearm does. Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it and sold it a while afterwards.
On my short list of "needs", a Marlin 1894 in .357 Mag (or even .41 Mag) ranks high.
My vote.....Henry 010 (45-70). Never heard any true concerns about quality and workmanship from a Henry. Im sure a few minor cases do exist, but heard non from the Henrys produced in the last several years.
Some dont like the loading tube. I, on the other hand, LOVE IT! I can unload the mag tube without cycling rounds through the chamber, before getting in a vehicle. OK....not to big of a deal since it only holds 4 in the tube. And can only have 2 in the tube for Ohio deer hunting. I can swab out the mag tube any time to keep it clean and rust/moisture free. It is very accurate. The action is butter smooth. And it is 100% American made....right down to the last screw. What more could anyone ask for?
Marlin 1893, .38-55, 26" half octagon barrel and 2/3 magazine...you know, the one with the elegant pistol grip, wrap around checkering, stocked in cicassian walnut and bearing original factory engraving with bone charcoal case hardening. Did I mention the vernier tang sight and front globe? I've combed all the walmarts and no luck so far. I'll keep y'all posted!
I've got a brand new Marlin 45-70 . I had to send it to Marlin right away because of a broken safety. I got it back and on Friday I got to put 9 rounds through it before the damn action broke. Whole thing is locked up.

Sako Finnwolf. I don't have one. Best, Thomas.
Marlin all the way. I have the 336 in .30-30, .35 Remington (x2), .375 Winchester, and an 1895 in .45-70. My only lever besides that is an Ithaca Model 72 Saddlegun in 22LR that is one of the very first rifles I ever owned, and bought with my own money circa 1974-ish. And it still shoots great!

I love levers! I have a 336 in .35 Rem, a couple of 39A's, an Uberti 1860 Henry .45 Colt, and my new favorite, a Win 1895 in ".30 Gov't 06"!!! Built 1927 and will be a cast only for me. Still working up accurate loads but very promising so far.
