I love Marlins the best. I just sold my 44CL so I could get enough money to by a Henry in .357 which is by far my favorite caliber. I also own and love to shoot my Marlin 444 JM. Like most of us on this thread I love my levers and consider myself a lever man. I do own a few bolt rifles but I love my levers. SO, my question to all of you is this: If we all love our rifles and we do why the heck do we sell them so readily ? We sell them even though the majority of them have been so good to us. What is it about men that empowers us to love and then let go of the things we still love ? Is it the unknown love around the next corner that we are continually searching for ? Just wondering.

Sold the Marlin 336 and bought a Winchester 94. Yea, its bucking the trend, but the Winchester was unfired, had a 26" barrel and looked just wonderful...'sposed to be here tomorrow.

i've got a marlin guide gun, a winchester 94, a rossi 92, and a ranch hand. out of all of those the ranch hand is surprisingly the smoothest and the 94 is the "roughest" action.

I, too, am a Marlin guy with a preference for the end cap rifles but have two banded rifles ... a 1980 .35 Rem cut to 16.5" and my 1894C. I also have a Henry H001 that I put a large loop on that I really like. Here are some of my favorites ...

Right now, I am concentrating on hunting loads for my 444P rifles and my 1895GS rifles with cast bullets.

    Marlin 94 25-20, Marlin 39A 22LR, Winchester 30-30 1976 Bicentennial, Winchester 88 308, Winchester 30-30 Trapper & 375 Winchester BB. The Winchesters won hands down.

Well I like most ALL lever guns, but the favorite is by far the Marlin. Have more Marlins than anything else, 30-30s,35,444, saving for a 444P right now . Would love to get my hands on .41 Mag. A couple Winchesters 30-30s, one Classic & one Trapper. Got a Rossi Puma LSI .357, and a Henry H001.

    I like them all!
    My current inventory..
    Rossi 92 .357
    Winchester 1894 32ws. made in 1920
    Henry .22 magnum blue
    Henry .22lr brass
    Henry .44 mag brass

I guess the 1894 is a favorite as it was my fathers deer gun. It is a saddle ring carbine.

For quality, dependability, accuracy, and strength I would choose Marlin. But just the name "lever gun" brings Winchester to mind.
I've had Marlins, 1895 (circa late 1970's) 45-70, now have a Henry H004M 22 Magnum, and a Winchester Ranger pre safety AE 30-30. Not a perfect example of a 94, but a good one.
My vote, because John Wayne never carried a 336............Winchester

I guess I'm bucking the trend here.

I have 3 pump shotguns, all Remington 870, one in 20, 16, and 12 gauge.
My .22 is a ruger 10/22 been with me more than 40 years, still shoots better than I can hold it.

I've been away from the rifles for a long time. I pretty much stopped killing things, just didn't feel the need anymore.

So I kind of drifted into airguns for a bit, nothing fancy, Sheridan, recently got a pair of 1322's. Those are all bolts.

I did recently buy a pair of Mosin's and an SKS, just cause.

I have been looking at the Rossi Ranch hand, and if I could find one used in reasonable condition would probably bite.
38/357, 45, 44 mag all would do the job I think. And I could quickly setup to cast and reload for any of them.

Levers do have a "cool" all their own though. Call me the ol pump guy with a few other actions thrown in for spice.

Marlin 336 in 30/30, as I've owned Marlins since I was a kid with the Model 60. They've always been good shooters for me and the one time I had a problem with one Marlin sent out replacement parts no questions asked and at no cost to me.
