Browning BLR all the way, mine locks like a bank vault and is accurate down to the gnat's behind. Also the BL-22 is the greatest .22 ever devised IMHO, slick fun and easy on the eyes!
Raisin' Black Angus cows, outta gas, outta money, outta tags, low on boolits, but full 'a hope on the Rocky Mountain Eastern Slope!
Why does a man with a 7mag never panic buy? Because a man with a 7mag has no need to panic!

I voted Marlin, mainly because that's what I have. After shooting a Henry, I'd have to change my vote to Henry. That's one sweet action! The only drawback is I'm not convinced it's worth nearly twice the price. Anybody know how a Henry holds up long term?
This may be sacrilege but, I've never owned or even shot a Marlin. As far as lever actions go, I've owned nothing but Volcanic and Winchesters.

My first deer rifle was an old '94 in 32 Special - that was almost 50 years ago and it got me started in both hunting and reloading. I used a Lee "hammer at the kitchen table set" to refill those shells.
But I voted Browning. I just picked up a BLR-81 in .257 Roberts because, well, I wanted it.
This is my third .257 (I also have a custom McGowen barreled Rem 700 and a vintage 760) - so cool to shoot something that is named after me.

I chose Savage, but could have just as easily picked Marlin or Winny. They all serve their purposes well.
while my user name might emply bias list of faves. Marlin 39a century limtied,336sc 30-30,1894 first year production 44 mag. I also ejnoy my winchester model 71 and my custom built 1894 in38-55.
Winchester 1892 in 32-20 (1915), Marlin 1894cl 32-20 (?), Winchester 1894 25-35 curved grip and lever, half mag, oct and half round brl (1900), Winchester 1894 25-35 straight stock, full octagon brl (1915) Marlin 1894? 357 mag, Marlin 1894? 44 Mag. and finally Winchester 94 in 356,(1894-1994) edition. Love them all and they all shoot great!! If I had to pick an absolute favorite it would be darn tough. But, that first one listed, 1892 32-20 is one slick little machine, and as the old add said "Winchester repeating rifles, load an Sunday and shoot all week long." JW
usually my favorite is the one i ain't shot the new out of yet; currently a 1926-vintage 1894dl winnie in 38-55; cancer on the outside, brand new on the in. ain't got any boolits fer it yet, but i'm bettin' she's a keeper. got one other winnie; a 16" wrangler in 32ws, two marlins, both waffletop 336a's--32ws and 35 rem--and 3 1899 savages: a 22 savage hipower (great song-dog gun), a 32-40, beater, shoots great when it goes off, which is about 8 times out of 10, and a fine old 303 with a 27" barrel and a sexy old marbles tang sight that won't adjust. next one's gotta be a 250-3000; they don't make 257 roberts in a lever gun.
mind yer topknots!

Looking to get a 44 mag.
My first deer rifle was a Winchester 94 .30-30 ... Bought new in 1970 from coast to coast hardware store for $95 and still have it.
I have been following this board for quite a while. I finally got around to registering.
My 3 leverguns are all Winchesters.
94 25-35 SRC 1921
71 long tang deluxe 1937
9422 1972
All are shooters. I liberated the 9422 from being a 40 year safe queen for use in steel challenge matches.
Regards
I have only 2 lever guns, one is a Marlin 1894 in 38/357 and a stainless Rossi in 45 colt. I'd have to say the Rossi is my favorite at the moment due the action and just the way it feels in my hands, I'd buy another Rossi in a heart beat.
