    Model 39A

It appears yours would be early.

Does it have a serial number that starts with a letter (I believe it does)? If so I believe this is the earlier version.

Which part are you looking for?

I have a 1941-1942 case colored frame 39A. I am glad to have it.

    You could contact this guy.....

    http://www.gun-parts.com/marlin/

and he may be able to help.

Too many changes to the guns over the years. The sight elevator may be the same for all.

I also have a 39, 1941 24" bbl. with full mag. Great old rifles, really wish there were a faithful repro of the 1897 and 39 out there. I also have a 1/2 octagon, 2/3 mag 1897 takedown that my G-G-Grandfather gave to my Grandfather at Christmas 1907.

Two questions about the 39 A
First, serial number starts with "P' What year?
Second, screw that holds the lever in and pivots on. Is it supposed to have a bushing? This one seems to have a LOT of slop.
