Cool Hit the jackpot with the last load of isotope Lead.

As most of you know I am a BP shooter from the word go, and in this last load, I got 17 18# and 1 20# Dead soft containers. Also got 1800# of the other containers.

    It was a good day.

    Glad for ya!

I picked up from my local supply on Thursday. They had 64 of the 31.5# "cores" for me, plus another 400# of misc lead. That is 2400 lbs total. About 50# is pure.

Sounds like it was a good week on both sides of the country!

Have you had any of the 12" long x 1" diameter Blue pipe like containers? Seem to be real hard. This is the second batch in the past 2 months. I have about 40 of them so far.

I get those from time to time. mine seem to be made from the same stuff as the small blue vials that are listed on SQL's home page. They should be, since they are both xenon containers from the same company (at least the ones I get).

I have only gotten a few of the longer blue xenon vials. However, they always have about 100 lbs of the smaller ones.

    So, let me ask:

Where are you getting this sort of thing from???? Do I have local places for that sort of thing here???

I'm presuming that where ever you are getting these containers from, it makes sense that they are local, and that you pick up. So, we wouldn't be competing with you.

Can you share with me what kind of place you get these containers from?

Oh, and are you having to BUY these from the suppliers? Or, are they giving them away?

Local radiopharmacy. I have to pay to play. Previously they were selling to a scrapper, and I supplanted him by offering to pay the same rate per pound and pick up.

I started off keeping what I needed and selling the balance locally in the paper for $1.00/lb. I only need about 10-20 lbs a month for my habit, and pick about about 1000 lbs a month. My ad lead me to a couple of local guys who cast commercially, so now I generally pick-up, drop off, and have a little lead + cash to buy components.

It can be a challenge to get in the door at the radio pharmacy sometimes. There are two in my market. I have several friends who work at one, where I get the lead. Been working on the other, but can't get past reception yet.

    Dialog?

"So, honestly, I don't want any radioactive materials. I am not a terrorist. I just want to melt the lead down so I can make..... um..... bullets......"

That about how the dialog goes with those people?

Just ask them who supplies the isotopes and tell them you want to see who handles their scrap lead. You are a recycler.

If they ask what I do with it, I tell them honestly that I clean it, refine it into ingots, classify it by hardness and sell it to various people who may use it for a variety of purposes.

I have sold to guys making bullets, fishing lures, duck decoys, anchors, pinewood derby cars and model boat ballast. I event sold some to a guy who wanted weight for his truck in the winter.

You can always offer, you never know. I cast for BP, almost exclusively Pure or 30:1
