    Talking Gangs in Montana!

Gangs are getting bad here too! I think it's time to start shootin' a few of these SOB's, maybe they will get the message, although I doubt it.

I read some bear expert's statement to the effect that grizzlies never got the word about man's superiority because Indian spears and bows didn't faze them much, and even in these days of modern rifles, the issue is still in doubt.
Nice picture, now there's a gang that would give the reds and blues in our big cities pause!

I’ll bet you don’t see many early morning joggers along that section of highway!

    Wow Ric,

And you just go out with a bow? Brave man.

I'm afraid I would have dynamite with me.

    More likely dumb, than brave.

You get so you really don't think that much about them, if you don't live right around Glacier Park. Those ones are too familiar with people, and are very dangerous. You couldn't get me to camp inside that park. Outside on the edges where I can have a gun, yes. An RV isn't safe, as they can peel one of those open, like you would open a box of Cracker Jacks. The ones right around the cabin here, are true wild bears, and want nothing to do with people.

There is more animal stuff going on around here. I saw on the news the other night, a moose laying on someones front vestibule. Apparently it was cut up from barbed wire pretty bad, otherwise it most likely wouldn't have picked that particular spot.

Yesterday afternoon, I saw a nice chocolate colored bear a friend got with a bow. Not all that big, a little over five feet, but a beautiful, unrubbed coat.

Then I heard a good story about one of the locals who delivers bakery goods. He has a route from Kalispell, to Libby, to Eureka, and back. This is known as the Trapline, as it has a series of roadhouses and saloons scattered along the loop, and it used to be the thing to see if you could hit every saloon on the weekend. There were even buses that followed the route, so you didn't need to drink and drive to do it. I seem to recall there were 37 all together.

Anyway, the driver had stopped at a roadhouse to make his last delivery of the day. He got the goods from the back of his truck he needed to deliver, and took them inside, leaving the back of the truck open. He sits down to pass the time of day, and have a drink before heading home.
Meanwhile, a black bear had located the truck, and was inside helping itself to a snack. Two loggers drove in, and spotted the bear. So, being the considerate guys they were, they closed the truck door, trapping the bear inside. They then went into the saloon, and told the truck driver there had been a dog messing around his truck, so they had closed the door for him.
He finished his drink, and returned to the loading dock in Kalispell, and backed the truck in, to be reloaded in the morning, and went home. The next morning the warehouseman opened the back of the truck, and out comes Mr. Bear.
It made for a hiding spot under the loading dock, and the local cops had to come take care of the situation. Pretty funny, all in all.

Someone also this past week got a photo of a black bear sitting way up in a tree in an eagles' nest, and a mountain lion was in the city park. So, we have interesting critters around the area.

    Ric--

That story cracked me up. Great stuff.

Along the line of Curmudgeon's post--and Yellowstone National Parking Lot effort to re-introduce wolves--why not re-populate Los Angeles and the Bay Area with the grizzlies we rendered extinct right after the Gold Rush? It would make the tree-hugging envirofascists ecstatic, and bears fed on gangbangers would grow sleek and fat. Sounds like a win/win to me.
