    First kill with cast!!!

First I want to apologize for the lack of a picture.

Today I decided to carry my blackhawk in 357Mag with a 162gr KT pushed by 5.0gr Titegroup, while doing yard work at my folks new property. I was running the brush-hog in the field when I kicked up a rabbit. That hopper was lucky that it is not in season. So I continued to "mow" and scared another critter. I drew down and lost it in the high weeds. I waded in and saw motion, I waited and it jumped into the clearing. I fired when the beast was a great 120 inches away. The wound channel was amazing, the load worked flawlessly, going straight through the animal. That chipmunk never knew what hit it. I guess I am going to have to back down the load a little if I want to have anything left.

Yes you can laugh. I just wanted to share that with you fine forum folks.

Hitting a chipmunk with a 357 is a feat alone.

That chipmunk at 10 ft. is about the same size as a coyote at 50 or so yds..............................

Since the boolit didn't probably expand, it is nice to know that the meplat on that boolit is large enough for clean kills on dangerous critters.

I shot a reptile with my 45-70 the other day. It was a frightening brute -- 6" blue belly lizard. No parts were to be found.

    Cool

    Dang It Wilddog45,

I thought I was slightly over gunned when I caught a red squirrel head-on with 405gr. out of a 45-70. I did find a piece of tail for a trophy, but that was all. My only excuse is he had followed me through the woods for 1/4 mile giving me hell for being there.

And here I thought I used too much gun. I think I have to rethink my philosophy after reading about Wilddog, ph4570, and Capn Jack.

    Wink Really "Big" Game

How many of you have courted near certain death stalking the "Sabre Toothed North American Ground Squirrel"?

Jack:takinWiz: Had a friend that used to shoot slugs with a "Red Ryder" Said the key to a successful hunt was in the stalk.

As always, its ALL about shot placement.

Took a nasty Sabre Tooth with a 90yd headshot in full charge. Whew, my heart was pounding!

All I had was 95gr RCBS in 243, but she worked. Thank God. If that sucker would have made it to 80yds, I probly would have had to abandon ship!

Here it is the elusive but terrifying mossy horned cottonmouth that we dream of taking with a handgun.

I got an Armadillo at 900 yards with my M107 last year. Nice to know I am not the only one that likes more than needed.

If you want chipmonk practice come on over. My stonewalls are loaded with them and the wiped out half my corn. The grandson and myself are hitting them with .177 lead. Jake is 4 and a good spotter on our sniper team. I might break out the 30-30 and the RD 165's on 8 gr Unique for the bigger ones lol.
