well if you like to play try this.

    remove the front bbl band.

weld an extention on the end of the reciver tang.

drill and tap the extention for 1/4 24 or 28

remove the rear trigger guard screw, and drill up thru the stock,to the new rear tang hole.

use an 1/4 bolt/screw in the rear hole up the the tang.

now go bed the entire mess...

and you will be suprised how consistant it shoots.

    did this to my 222

I do hear that Ruger will chamber some NO.1's this year in 30-30, and that will be a classy combination if done right, but I haven't seen any yet.

Williams makes FP340 peep to fit factory drilled Savage 340, which is what I have on mine.

Numrich has original Savage side mount with 1" rings to fit later 340s which are factory drilled and tapped for it.

My Savage 340A is not drilled and tapped, so I have Numrich side mount available for anyone who wants it, PM me.

had one many years ago. Never shot cast out of it but it shot 150 corelocks into an inch for 5 shots all day long. The 340s and rem 788s in 3030 are coveted by bullet casters because there isn't many guns that outshoot them with cast bullets.

I have had an 840 for year, my first rifle. We loaded 130gr SSP Hornady with excellent results. It has accounted for the two mounts in my avatar, plus several more. Mine has a very nice trigger. Dad had a weaver side mount installed right before he gave it to me almost 30yrs ago.
