Check out this site
Theres a fellow their that collects old boxes. Has a thread devoted to pictures of old boxes.
FWIW- As with fishing lures, the boxes are worth as much or more than the lure/ammo.
oh man I have HUNDREDS of them. From around 1900 through WWII.
Started collecting them in bricks back when they were affordable and fun, the price has gone out the roof lately and with shipping it just costs too much to buy any more unless I find them at gunshows - and they're almost always overpriced.
A guy named Tony Dunn cataloged a LOT of the old .22's that had been made during the last 150 years, I happened across a repro of his catalog 8 or 9 years back and use it for reference on my boxes.
Richard Rains maintains a newsletter called "The .22 box" that attempts to continue Tony's work but he also works full time still. Here's a link to his website:

Here's a great site for old boxes:

and here's the thread from the rimfire forums:

I bring some of my collection to the gun shows and some moron always asks the question "Shazaam, how comes them .22 is so expensive? Feller over there got 'em for a lot less". Then when I tell them "These ain't fer shootin they're fer lookin at" I get some really wild looks. The people who do collect .22's are a JOY to talk to though.

I have a box of the .22 LR ammo that I was given at the Bianchi Cup as a competitor back
in the 80's, Bianchi VI (IIRC). Is that worth anything? They had special boxes made up and
handed out a bit more than you needed to shoot the rimfire side match, so I saved the
extra box.

If it was easy, anybody could do it.
I got a old box gave to me a few years back because well they knew I collect everthing. Its CANUCK brand made by canadian industries limited. Box dont look all that old and is paper and states the bullets are greased and are good for target pistol matchs CIL matchs tournament shooting but to buy whiz-bang for pest and small game. May not be worth anything but they are on the shelf with my old shotgun boxes pistol ammo boxes and other things.
Reloading to save money I am sure the saving is going to start soon
