    32-20 & Accurate Mold 31-117A

    Finally got my new mold out and casting.

    Accurate Molds 31-117A - It’s Tom’s clone of the 311316 Lyman whereas I had him eliminate the lube rings as I will powder coat them. This mold dropped with my alloy at .315 - .316 and 119gr. I’ll size after PC to .314.

    My alloy; I added a tad bit of solder to help with fillout/flow.

    SN 2.16%
    SB 2.54%
    CU .04%
    AG .01%
    PB 95.2%

    I have not loaded any rounds as of yet. They will be used in a S&W 1905 (1911 date) 32-20 w/ 4” bbl 3rd Change.

    Very interesting. You’ve taken an old design and brought it into the 21st Century. I’ll be interested to see how it works for you. What kind of powder charge do you plan to use?

    @green frog

    COAL 1.555”
    Powder - 231
    3.1gr - 3.4 gr.

    Will try and keep it low pressure for the old S&W 1905. Mainly a ranch pistol; snakes, varmints, etc.

    Sounds like a good plan to me! What is the bullet diameter after powder coating and ready to load? Have you done any range testing yet?

    It dropped at .315. It was designed for .314. I will size after PC to .314. Have not sized, nor PC, nor loaded as of yet. Ranch work this weekend, so hopefully next weekend I’ll load some up.

    Very nice! After I get done with this hernia surgery I'm about to have I'm going to have Tom cut me one in that same class as well, but 90grs and a little more similar to his 31-85G. It's a design I posted a while back, a gascheck RNFP for PCing. But that's a nice looking one there!
    Currently looking for a Lyman/Ideal 311419 Mold - PM if you have one you'd like to get rid of!
