Caution: Federal 9mm NT Brass

I ran across some Federal 9mm NT brass and it has crimped primers.
Be careful if you’re running a progressive press.
I had a solid lock up on the Auto Champ I just finished setting up to size, deprime and prime. The primer didn’t seat all of the way and was not hard to clear.
I sorted them out and removed the crimp and they ran with no problems.
Pretty brass, I hated the trash them but they will be left at the range so I don’t confuse them with others that have not been swaged.

Forgive my ignorance but what does NT stand for?

NT= "Non-Toxic" for indoor range use.

I toss all my federal brass. I have seen cracked necks several times through out the years in several different calibers on brand new fired brass. They have the worst quality control IMO their brass. You did yourself a favor leaving them.

I inspect all my brass ... each and every case for crimped in primers , Berdan Primers and primer size (small or large) ...
... you never know what the heck is going to pop up these days ...

I don't trust head stamps anylonger and eye-ball every danged one ...
My eye ball don't tell no lies !
I can remove a primer pocket crimp easy-easy ... been loading too many military cases to let crimps make me trash a perfectly good case ... I'm too much of a brass hound for that !

Thanks for the heads up on the Federal Non-Toxic . I heard most / all NT's had crimped in primers but don'tr remember why ...

Agreed I'll decrimp brass because if your doing that. It is surely Once- fired!

Yes, I shot some of the NT brass today and it was not a problem.

Recently ran through a bunch of once fired 9mm fc nickle. As it was moving along I heard one ringer.
