    Cookie cutter

Just a note for Newbys that pan lube. I found out that an empty 303 british case (unsized) is the correct size to use as a cookie cutter for removing 30cal. bullets from the cooled lube. All i had to do was drill the primer hole large enough to use a bolt to push the bullet back out the case.
I allso found for me, If i srart to remove the bullets from the lube after it has solidified but before it cools it is much easier removing the bullets.

    Kevin :

Actually most any ( fired ) .30 cal. case can be used as long as the bullet isn't vastly oversized.

Bullets that are .309 or .310 work well with your system. Yes, you're using you head now....don't wait until the lube gets hard, take them out while the lube is still slightly warm & semi-soft. Much easier.

Doing it while the lube is still warm makes the lube melt quicker for the next batch, I found.

Ditto for runfiverun's comments. The golf club shaft that is cut to fit as a " cookie cutter " won't deform at the mouth as easy as a brass cartridge case. It will last many, many times longer !

Well if you don't mind spending about $20 we have a member who makes the best I have seen. I have about 10 of the old Lee Kate cutters. They work but are small and short and it is hard to use. Buckshot has made me two different sizes for my pan lubing of the 45-70 bullets that I cast. They are the nicest tool I have used for this. They are about 5 in in length and the upper is knurled and then case hardened type of finish.
