    Keith boolits in Marlin rifle

Anybody here know weather the MiHec group buy 270 gn RCBS clone offered in a group buy will feed reliably in a marlin cowboy rifle in 45 colt.

I understand there could be an issue with keith style bullets feeding in these rifles.

All input appreciated. If anyone has tried 'em how well do they shoot.

    TIA Rob

I load Lyman's 429421 bullet at an OAL of 1.70" and get no feeding problems at all.

I have used the Lyman 429244 without any problem but a better choice is the Ranch Dog 265 gr. bullet if you can fine a mould. Mine weighs about 270 gr. and loads and shoots great.

I've had no trouble with 452424 in my Marlin cowboy. Only bullet it doesn't like is a 300WFN. Too short a throat for that one.

I use the following in my 444's these are all gas checked SWC's .

    Lyman 429215
    Lyman 429244
    Lyman 429650

    RCBS 44-225GC SWC
    RCBS 44-240GC SWC
    RCBS 44-300GC SWC

And they all feed well enough for me to use them to hunt !

The Lyman 452424 doesn't feed well in my 45LC Marlin. It hangs up on the shoulder of the bullet, at the edge of the chamber, causing a monentary hitch on the feeding cycle. Accuracy wise it shot OK. I subsequently purchased a Lyman 250gr 452664 RNFP, which is designed to feed in the lever action rifles. 9 or 10 gr of Unique works well for me with this bullet.

    bullets

I have 3 different bullet molds for 44, a 200 gr, a 250 gr, and the 310 gr trash can from lee. I also have two different 44 carbines, a marlin and a rossi. both carbines will feed all three.

While I am not a huge fan of the Marlin, I do find it having less felt recoil with the 310 gr, which weighs in at 318grs out of my blocks. this load is 21 grs fo 296 and is no fun at all in a handgun, and not a real treat in the carbines. but both rifles handle them well and shoot straight.

That RCBS 270 bullet works very well in my Marlin 1894, Ruger Blackhawks and new Vaqueros. OAL is 1.660"
