"There's always a way."
I am yet trying to figure out why they call you "Lucky".
I would try ice to get it hard enough to break out of the carpet.
Good Luck,
Rex
Maybe some ice? Or dry ice? Get the lube cold enough to break? I certainly would not try a solvent; the rug would just absorb the thinned lube.
You just found a spot for the new throw rug.

lay a paper sack or newspaper over the spot and then take a clothes iron and start ironing the spot i don't understand how but it will suck the wax out of the carpet
then burn some popcorn in the microwave to cover the smell.
My SWMBO is over my shoulder and she advises that answer #8 by bigboredad is the correct one as she has done the same where I have had similar things go wrong. Later David

From working at the Dewaxing/Deoiling unit at a Sunoco oil refinery I can tell you the solvent for paraffin is MEK which you can buy at the hardware store or Lowes. What I don't know is if it will take the dye out of your carpet and it really stinks too.
... or you could practice saying, "Honey, I've been thinking. Wouldn't a new carpet look good in our family room?"

Train the dog to lie there and not move. Try crazy glue.
