Thumbs up Another Milsurp Rifle Postal Match, Any Interest?

I was just wondering if there would be any interest in another stock Military Surplus Rifle Postal Match? Firing cast boolits, of course. Now that the weather is starting to improve for most of the country I thought this would be a good time to start.

I'd be willing to run the match, collect & score targets, and post results.

So far this is what I've come up with for a course of fire:

Stage #1 - Five rounds fired at 50 yards, offhand.
Stage #2 - Five rounds fired at 100 yards, prone.
Stage #3 - Five rounds fired at 100 yards, kneeling.
Stage #4 - Five rounds fired at 100 yards, sitting.
Stage #5 - Five rounds fired at 100 yards, benchrest.

Rifles used would be limited to original configuration military surplus rifles using stock iron sights; and firing the caliber that model of rifle was chambered for while in military service.

As far as scoring I was thinking we could shoot for raw score on this one; instead of shooting for group size. I'm looking into a suitable target for this that would involve an 8" sighting black center that fits on an 8.5"x11" sheet of paper and could be sent through the mail to me for scoring.

Looking for any interest at this point to see if we can make this a go.

    Count me in, too.

For targets, suggest either the SR-1 ( http://www.reloadbench.com/pdf/files...0for%20100.pdf ) or the SR-21 ( http://www.reloadbench.com/pdf/files...0for%20200.pdf ) Target. Both can be printed on standard 8 1/2 x 11 and are easy to score.

Yes I have looked at those targets. I was hoping to go with an 8" black aiming center as opposed to to a 6" black aiming center like the SR-1 and SR-21 targets you suggested above.

I really like the NRA TQ-4 100 yard smallbore rifle target with the 8" black center. I'm working on something to fit the center of the TQ-4 on an 8.5"x11" sheet of paper.

TQ-4 looks like a good choice. I'll look around and see if I can find any locally. If so, I'll scan one and e-mail you a pdf or jpg.

Thanks for the offer, Bill. However, I've got a whole stack of the TQ-4 targets sitting next to me as I type this.

What would you think of the 8" TQ-4 black center scanned onto an 8.5"x11" sheet of paper? That would give us scoring rings of 7, 8, 9, 10, and X. Anything outside of the scoring rings but still on the paper could be scored as a 6. We could also shoot each stage on a single target.

My thinking on this is that the 8.5"x11" target paper would make it much easier to mail the targets for scoring in a regular envelope.

Making progress here with the target for this postal match. Rather than continue to fool around with locating an 8" center that I can scan onto an 8.5"x11" sheet of paper; I have found an easier solution. On another site I have found a 7" center with 7, 8, 9, 10, and X rings. Good enough for me.

Here is a link to the target: http://postalcontest.com/targets/SR1-50yds-black.pdf
