    RCBS sizing die O-ring size

What size O-ring goes on a RCBS sizing die? I have one without and would like to find the right one at the hardware store.

    SciFiJim,
If I was in your situation, to be assured of the correct fit, I would take the die with me to the store.

I did. There are a couple that are very close. 7/16 and somthing/64. I was just wondering which one was the correct one.

Jim, O rings have a nominal inside Dia., outside Dia., and a sectional Dia. and are usually given a standardized No. If you want the correct one I would contact RCBS and ask what size/number thats used. I don't have any RCBS sizers so can't measure one. If you have another die with an O ring take the O ring with you to hardware store and match it up. Don't forget that the old one may be stretched a little bit. The sectional Dia. [thickness] is important.

I have nearly all RCBS dies, but I don't recall ever seeing an o-ring on one of them. Is this something new?

    SciFiJim,
I'll bet RCBS will send you one for no charge. Well worth a phone call. Worse case is they'll sell you the proper one. Didn't think of it, earlier.

Actually, neither did I. I am used to getting stuff from the hardware store.
I'll call them when I get a chance.

The lyman dies that take an O'ring can be replaced by going to your closest sporting goods store that carries good paintball gun supplies. The guns use a real tough yellow/white Oring that is a better replacement than the original ring. They are tougher than jerky made from a 30 year old camel.

    O-rings on RCBS sizer die

I pulled one off my die, they are hard to get a good reading because they are rubbery (go figure). .075 Dia, .758 OD, .585 ID, give or take a few thou. Hpoe that is sum help.

PS, I have one of the HF boxes with every o-ring known to man and not one was right!

The O-ring is probably proprietary to RCBS.

Nearest I can figure is 37/64 inner diameter.

Try Ace Hardware, here they have a good number of O-rings in my area.

Could you use a caliper to measure the diameter of the o-ring groove in the die, then measure the die body diameter, and figure what size you need. If you can't find what you need locally, check here

An interesting thing about O rings; they are so flexible that for most uses they rarely need to be a precise match. Close enough is absolutely perfect most of the time.
