Anyone have tips/opinions or experience on painting stainless steel bbl? Am considering painting project rifle drab olive green, maybe camo pattern. Is there any special primer or technique involved. Thanks for all replies, comments.

Yea, I tried it once, it's a never ending job. Like trying to keep a woman happy.
You have to go back and touch it up every once in a while.

Use the bake-on laquer or teflon/moly coatings available from Brownells. I've used both, they are very good. I used the laquer in OD green for a camo job, with other colors in Krylon applied over top; that worked well. If you're not going to paint over it, the teflon/moly coating is good stuff. Paint won't stick to it though.

I use Gun Kote and Cerakote. Both work just fine, blast with silicon carbide first spray and bake. Either is tougher than heck and doesn't allow rust to form. Gun Kote is a lot easier to work with though.

Even tho Duracoat is a royal pain to do, it wont ever come off once its on.

I use it on all painted firearms.

Sandblast it, clean it, paint it, bake it, hang it for a few weeks.

I use GunKote after blasting to a flat satin finish. Once backed on the only way to get it off is to blast it off.

I like that Bengal Tiger pattern.

I have an AR-15 that's light and easy to tote around and call it my walking cougar gun ..... the cougars would be impressed by that Tiger look ........ I'm sure any that were not ....... would come around to my line of reasoning before it was over.
