    311407

Went to a gun show today and came home with a new mold. 311407, loverin style GC. 180 grn. $35.00. The pot is heating as I speak and by the time I get the mold cleaned up it should be ready.
Anyone have experience with this mold?

If I could own only one .30 mould, this would be it. I think I have 5 or 6 of them on hand. It is not the ne plus ultra.....the do-all, but it does do most things well. It tends to shoot without lots of experimentation, has a flat nose that allows it to be shot in any type magazine and is a fine killer. It can carry more lube than it will ever need and is the best of loverin's in my opinion. Some folks prefer the pointed Loverin's, but I don't.

This bullet generally doesn't drop as fat as others do and for that reason, I relegate it to standard .308 bores (.311 and less). My next favorite bullet is the 314299, followed by the RCBS 150 FN. All the others are shelf fillers.

    Thanks Dave, and Jumptrap,
I did a search and found quite a few mentions of it. I see also that it was a group buy mold. Sorry I missed that one.
Well I sure hope they shoot as well at they cast, I cast 86 this evening and not a looser in the bunch. I'll lube some tomorrow.
