    40cal CB crimp ?????

    Going to cast my first boolits this weekend,should I change the way I reload cast compared to plated.Crimp more or less with cast.Lee 175 TC 6cav mold.

    You wil be able to crimp slightly more. Taper crimp about .002" smaller on the mouth, compared to the body of the brasss. Do a little more than take the bell out. Test for fit in your guns chamber.

    I remove bell only. I get best accuracy this way.

    I smoothed the bell out without any crimp and never had any bullets back out from recoil using the forty. Wouldn't hurt to try .002 crimp on some loads, but you take a chance of reducing/squshing the diameter of the cast bullet and causing problems.

    I go just a bit past the smothening out the bell stage. To heavy and you will end up with an undersized bullet.

    Just be careful is you are using a FCD. It can actually swage down the diameter of the boolit and you may get leading. Yes, this is experience talking.
