    2010 nevada cast bullet shoot

Yep, it's that time again...announcing the dates for NCBS 2010.

The Shoot will be held the weekend BEFORE Memorial Day, which falls on May 31. Therefore, May 21-22-23 will be the appointed time.

As usual, the Friday will see a get-together lunch for those arriving early enough. Friday evening is the "Rools Kommittee Dinner" at which we discuss the affairs of the Shoot, renew old acquaintances and meet new ones....plus, of course, hoisting a few and enjoying some good grub.

Saturday has a lot of shooting, followed by the now-traditional barbeque (or whatever) at my place. Sunday has still more shooting and in the evening we'll have the closing banquet at Ormachea's Dinner House, also a tradition and very much worth it.

Be aware that this is NOT a competition in the purest sense of the word. Rather, it's a friendly get-together with a few informal "matches" mixed-in. There are shoots for rifle and handgun, iron sight and scope, short range and long...you name it.

If you don't have guns for everything, rest assured that they WILL be provided, along with ammo and some "sage" advice...or maybe not so sage, come to think of it.

There's a reason that we are now organizing the ELEVENTH annual Nevada Shoot, and it's very simple. It's about the most shooting and socializing fun to ever occur in one location. Each successive shoot is like a family re-union where you actually LIKE everyone!

It would be wise to make hotel/motel/campground reservations as early as possible.

We look forward to seeing everyone who can possibly make it.

    Bruce

Wouldn't miss it-never have. Have to start working on Jaremy. The rug rat will be nine months old by then, so Jaremy should be ready for a break.

    It's in Winnemucca, NV.

LEFT PHOTO An overview of one of the ranges we used for most of the shooting.RIGHT PHOTO Two of the rifle teams at work. We had 4 rifle teams of 5 shooters each, and for the team pistol event we had 4 teams of 6 shooters each. These 2 events pit team against team (names pulled form a hat) in a timed accuracy challange. Fast and furious!

Where the long range match was shot. Any position EXCEPT off the bench! Gee, I forget now who won that, but BruceB will probably remember who it was.

Imagine, ALL boolit casters and shooters, ALL lovers of all types of rifles and pistols, ALL simply great people, and it's ALL FOR FUN. There are only 2 requirements, 1) Be safe 2) No whining.

Depending on how my schedule works out, I am going to try to make it down this year. Sounds like a really good time!

Hmmm, I wonder if I have any suitable cast bullets out in the garage...

    Hi Guys,

    WOW!
I did not know about this event and it is drawing quite a few people.
I live right outside of Reno and this thread has peaked my interest.

Looks like a ton of fun...I am definitely up for this.
Planning out that far is a bit of a quandary for me as my life is in a constant state of flux.

I would like to tentatively RSVP...I am about 90% sure that I can make it at this time.

BruceB...do we need to get on any kind of list?

I know that alot of the guys on here are partial to lever, single shot and military bolt guns...any objections to the AR? My latest addiction is pouring boolits for my .300 Whisper. Just got a new mold, the RCBS 200gr. .30 cal. Silhouette and I love this boolit!

    Kind Regards,

    G

noclue, I parked a 5th wheel at the T casino RV park for $20 a night. The range is 3 miles out of town and is County owned so I don't think that would work but Bruce can chime in.

I made it once, I think it was back in 2001, and had a great time! I would advise anyone who can, to try and make this event!--Shuz

I had intended to be there last year but my boss, who is not a shooter had other plans for me. That and a pig hunt with Glen at nearly the same time ruined all my plans of attending. Gonna mark the calender and have a chat with the boss and explain priority's to him, what kind of idiot doesn't pour boolits and shoot? And he's not even a liberal, go figure.

Well Glen, I'll bet folks on this forum could offer up some advice on how to make some.

Hope we can both make it, would be great to meet and shoot with you again.

The only list you will need to get on is a hotel reservation list. Quite a few shooters stay at the Sante Fe Inn. Get your reservations in early as you can. You wouldn't think so but Winnemucca is a busy place.

No problem with ARs as long as you are shooting cast bullets. No condom bullets allowed at NCBS. Glad to hear you are planning on attending. You won't be disappointed. This is a fun gathering Nevada style with no pressure and plenty of conversation and good times.

Sheesh. You'd think I would remember to include such basic information as the location of the Shoot....CRS kicking in, I suppose.

It's nice to see the interest demonstrated here.

Run-ammucca, a motorcycle get-together, is usually held on Memorial Day weekend. If that holds true this year, it would be the weekend following our event. If not, well, I've about had it with jockeying dates to avoid others' events. The best bet is to simply make our reservations early.

Every one is welcome. As ammohead stated, just make a hotel/motel or whatever reservation and show up....no lists.

The range is open 24/7. I don't know if there's an "official" policy on camping, but the intent was to have a minimum of rules and regulations. I think it might be reasonable to have an RV or two overnighting, but typically we shut down around 4 p.m. or thereabouts and we must not impede other shooters from using the range in the remaining daylight. There is a first-class toilet facility, but no power or water is available.

An AR-type rifle is perfectly fine (as long as it shoots cast bullets). However, semi-autos are frowned upon for the team rifle match, where all us geezers tend to use such things as lever guns, bolt actions, and even, on one memorable occasion, a Trap-door Springfield! Speed of fire is considered a considerable advantage in this against-the-clock-or-other-team event, so strippers or extra mags are also verboten. (Otherwise I'd use my M1A and SMOKE 'em!)

As the date nears, I like to get some indication of how many folks intend to attend. This allows the making of accurate bookings for dinners, etc. This info isn't really required until a couple of weeks before the Shoot.
